So, this begs the question: do men prefer ‘clean’ women?

Or did men circa 1971 have different standards for what they wanted in a woman? Hmmm…

So I called my old buddy Roger. He said he likes them clean with a dirty mind. In the course of the phone call, he suggested that it might be that the 300-pound daisy had a clean criminal record, but to me, that didn’t seem fitting for 1971.

I wanted to ask Jason, my boss back when I had a good job, but I lost track of him when he moved to TN right before the GM plant shut down, but I didn’t have to ask. I know what he’d say: “DIRTY!!!!!!”

[A few years ago, one friend of mine said the only thing he was looking for in a woman was a pulse.]

But what about the women I know? Are they ‘clean’ or ‘dirty’? So I called Debbie – single mom, outdoorsy chick, laughed pretty hard, and said she’s 50/50.

I didn’t have to call Roxanne – I know she’d say she’s a dirty girl.

Me? I’m about 40/60 (clean/dirty) or sometimes even 30/70.

Note to self: If I ever decide to do the online dating thing again, must remember to include this in my profile in case it’s an important but overlooked quality men look for in a woman.

I haven’t yet figured out if someone created the site to ride on HBO’s coattails or if it’s a genius marketing ploy crafted by HBO themselves. Hmmm…

Um… has she even SEEN “John & Kate + 8″?  And I don’t mean a recent episode but, say, one from a year ago?  I have.

I saw the very first show, a documentary on them, that gave an inside peek into their lives in a house too small for that many people.

They seemed overwhelmed but happy.

Then the show became a regular series and they got to move into a bigger house.

And if you watched the show, as I did occasionally, you also got a glimpse of what it was like living with a controlling, abusive spouse and in each episode, you got the displeasure of witnessing Jon being beaten down more and more.

And then they moved to an even bigger house.  (Wasn’t there another house in between?)

But what does her new million-dollar home really say about Kate?





Maybe she’s not the same woman he married.  Maybe fame and fortune have changed her into what she is now.  Maybe the people who know her best think she’s a raving bitch.  We don’t know.  [But it'll probably be on the cover of 'The Enquirer' any day now]

Look — I was a child of divorce and can say from experience that it would have been better if my parents had split up than seeing the screaming, my mom with a broken nose, the blue lights of the cop car flashing out front…  The kids are probably better off.

I say Jon should live it up.  Hell, if anyone deserves it after all he’s been through, it’s him.

The part where it says the “U.S. Department of Labor estimates today’s learners will have 10 – 14 jobs by the age of 38″ got me thinking and I had to make a list.

I’m 42 (but I don’t look it!) and I’ve had 21 jobs. I did lump some together so if I had to count all of them individually, might be closer to 26 or so.

Hey DOL: stick THAT in your statistics!
